Appearance: Rosemary is an evergreen shrub, usually between 0.5 and 2 meters in height. The stem and old branches are cylindrical, the cortex is dark gray, irregularly longitudinally divided, and the young branches are quadrilateral, densely covered with white star-shaped fine hairs. Leaves often clustered, linear, 1-2.5 cm long, 1-2 mm wide, apex obtuse, base attenuated, entire margin, curled abaxially, leathery, slightly glossy above, subglabrous, densely covered with white stellate hairs below. Flowers subsessile, opposite, few gathered at the tip of short branches forming a raceme; Bracts small, petiolate; Calyx ovate-campanulate, ca. 4 mm long, outer densely covered with white stellate hairs and glands, inner surface glabrous, 11-vented, bilabial, upper lip subrounded, entire or with very short 3-teeth, lower lip 2-teeth, oval-shaped triangular; Corolla bluish-purple, less than 1 cm long, outer pubescent, inner glabrous, crown tube slightly extended, crown eaves bilabial, upper lip straight extended, 2-lobed, lobes oval, lower lip broad, 3-lobed, middle lobes largest, concave, downward, margin dentate, base compressed into a stalk, lateral lobes oblong.

Extraction parts: mainly stems, leaves and flowers in the above-ground parts, which are rich in active ingredients such as volatile oils.

Extraction method: commonly used steam distillation method. Main origin: Originated in the Mediterranean coastal areas, such as Spain, Portugal, Italy and other countries. At present, it is widely cultivated in the world, and mainly distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and other places in China.
